It will grow upright on a thick stalk 8 to 12 feet tall with long slender seed pods that shatter when mature, making excellent quail feed. It will provide thick cover for quail and will stand up in winter flood conditions for ducks. It will thrive in almost any soil type but prefers moist, fertile conditions. Sesbania grows rapidly in hot weather and matures in about 90 to 100 days after emergence. Seeds are highly preferred by quail, turkey and doves.
