Step (2) Put out mound treatments that will eliminate entire colonies with Orthene. Do this six days after you have applied Talstar. Do not disturb or wet mound. Put one tablespoon per mound directly on top. One 1 lb. can can treat up to 108 mounds. If you apply the Talstar correctly the first time your need only to follow up with orthene. Winter time fire ants forage little and do not pick up the insecticide.
